Two men were arrested after state troopers discovered more than $100,000 in cash during a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 77 about a mile south of Coleto Creek on Friday.

About 11 a.m., Oscar Olido, 27, of Mission, was southbound in a white Chevrolet pickup when he was pulled over by a Department of Public Safety trooper on a suspected traffic violation, said Trooper Gerald Bryant.

Six bundles containing a total of $106,420 in cash were discovered in a false compartment, Bryant said. Olido was arrested and charged with felony money laundering.

His passenger, Moises Carrizales, 45, of Edinburg, was also arrested on outstanding warrants for theft.

Both men were in the Victoria County Jail on Friday.
