A 13-year-old boy was arrested and charged with evading arrest Wednesday afternoon.

A convenience store clerk in the 1700 block of East Stayton Avenue flagged patrol officers down after suspecting two young boys of stealing from the store about 2:15 p.m.

When the officers tried to stop the boys for questioning, they took off running, said Police Sgt. Jason Turner.

One of the boys listened when the officer ordered them to stop, but the other one ran for several blocks before being arrested near Alma and North Laurent streets.

The 13-year-old boy who was arrested was charged with evading arrest or detention and is being held at the Victoria Regional Juvenile Justice Center, Turner said.
