Two top Victoria employees received pay raises Tuesday night.
In a 5-1 vote the Victoria City Council approved a resolution Tuesday approving the raises.
The resolution increased City Manager Charmelle Garrett's salary 3 percent, or $4,890, to $167,890 from $163,000.
City Attorney Thomas Gwosdz's salary increased 5 percent to $131,250, from $125,000.
Councilman Gabriel Soliz voted against the resolution.
"I'm just trying to do what my district has asked me to do," he said.
Mayor Pro Tem Paul Polasek reminded Soliz that all city employees received a 3 percent raise this year.
"I don't understand why anyone is trying to exclude (two) employees," he said.
