Refugio's Herring named 2A coach of the year

Refugio's Jason Herring has been selected as the 2011 Class 2A Coach of the Year by Lone Star Gridiron.
Herring led the Bobcats to a 15-0 record and the Division II state championship. Refugio captured its first state championship since 1982.
Herring is in his fifth season at Refugio and has a 68-4 record.
Herring has an overall head coaching record of 131-28 and won a state championship at Sonora.
The other coaches honored were Southlake Carroll's Hal Wasson in Class 5A, Waco Midway's Joey Terry Gambill in 4A, Wimberley's Weldon Nelms in 3A and Stamford's Wayne Hutchinson in 1A.
