Did you know that more women die of heart disease than all cancers combined?

If you did not, then a DeTar Healthcare System Healthy Woman event Tuesday may help you learn about heart disease in women.

"Being a woman with a family history of heart disease, this is a topic very close to my heart," said Yvette Peuttus, Healthy Woman coordinator. "I want to learn as much information about this topic to educate myself and my daughter."

Dr. Harish Chandna will speak about the warning signs, risks and other preventive methods women can take to decrease the risk of heart disease.

Today, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the U.S.

Chandna will talk specifically about warning signs, exercising and eating right and controlling blood pressure and cholesterol level. The event is free.

Refreshments of chocolate covered strawberries, fruit and cheese and wine will be served.
