The 73rd annual Yorktown FFA Stock Show kicks off Friday at the show barn on North Hoppe Street.
This year's event features four steers, 18 sheep and 16 hogs, said Brad Metting, Yorktown ag teacher.
The number of sheep and hogs entered is about the same as last year and the number of steers doubled from the two exhibited last year.
The animals will be judged starting at 5:30 p.m. Friday beginning with the sheep, followed by the hogs and steers. Shop projects will also be judged Friday afternoon.
The cook-off judging begins at 9 a.m. Saturday with students competing in chili, beans and brisket divisions.
The market animal sale starts at 1 p.m. Saturday.
