In conjunction with Texas Severe Weather Awareness Week, Feb. 19-25, the National Weather Service will hold a mock tornado drill 10 a.m. Wednesday.

The purpose of the drill is to give residents of South Texas a chance to determine if they can receive a warning and what to do when a warning is received or a tornado is occurring, according to the NWS.

In Victoria, no special response to the drill is planned.

"We will make our business and nonprofit partners aware of the drill and answer any questions they may have," Lacey said.

The mock warning will be in effect for all 15 counties in the NWS Corpus Christi region and will only be issued through broadcast on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Weather Radio All Hazards.

The mock warning will remain in effect for 15 minutes.

According to the NWS, in a tornado the most important rule is to "get low and stay low."
