A masked man robbed a cashier at gunpoint at the Diamond Mini Mart, 3602 Houston Highway, about 11:50 a.m. Tuesday.

No customers were in the store when the man entered and demanded money from the clerk, pointing a handgun in his direction, said Lt. Jason Cross of the Victoria Police Department.

No injuries were reported.

The suspect, who was wearing a ski mask, attempted to take the money till but couldn't free it from the register, Cross said.

He grabbed a stack of $20 bills, estimated to be a few hundred dollars, and ran north from the store.

The clerk chased him, yelling for help, Cross said. Police are searching for the suspect, but identified him only as a white man.

"We have some video that the detectives are going to be revealing, and hopefully we'll have an even more detailed description and some pictures out soon," Cross said.

A worker in the store Tuesday night declined to talk about the robbery.
