It is unclear whether Alcoa's Point Comfort plant will be affected by upcoming company changes, a spokeswoman said Friday.
Alcoa on Thursday announced plans to close an aluminum smelter in Tennessee and close two of six idled potlines at the company's Rockdale site.
Alcoa employs 600 people at its Point Comfort operations, Laurel Cahill, spokeswoman for the Point Comfort site, said through an email.
"While we can't say at this point if this announcement will affect our plant, we continue to focus on being the safest, lowest-cost alumina provider," she said.
