The annual Yoakum FFA and 4-H Stock Show kicks off Friday at the Yoakum Rodeo Arena, 1803 N. South St.

Animal weigh-ins begin at 1 p.m. and run through 8 p.m. Friday.

This year 68 exhibitors will be in the show. The number is down slightly from last year, said Yoakum ag teacher Christie Michalcik.

The entries include six steers, six heifers, 31 market hogs, 22 breeding hogs, 13 market goats, six breeding goats, 16 market rabbits and five pens of broilers.

"Many exhibitors had a hard time finding rabbits this year due to the extreme heat of the summer and fall," Michalcik said. "Breeders just didn't have bunnies available."

Judging of market animals starts at 8 a.m. Saturday with hogs, followed by steers at 10:30 a.m.

Awards will be presented at 6 p.m. with the premium sale scheduled for 7 p.m.

A concession stand will be open both days.
