A power outage on South Laurent Street near Port Lavaca Highway affected 600 customers Friday morning.

The power went out about 7 a.m. but American Electric Power restored all but 40 customers to service within the hour, said Elgin Janssen of AEP.

During the repairs, another location was found that needed immediate attention.

AEP workers opened a circuit breaker to repair the lines, causing 1,600 customers, including the original 600, to lose power for about 15 minutes.

All the repairs were complete about about 9:50 a.m.
