Crossroads residents looking to donate money toward a good cause and strut their best formal, evening attire are invited to attend the South Texas Zoological Society's 2012 Peacock Gala.
The fundraising gala will take place at the Spring Creek Event Center on Friday.
"This is going to be a special fundraising event for the Texas Zoo, something different that we can't do on the premises. If someone wants to dress up and enjoy a lovely evening , that's what this is," said Andrea Blomberg, executive director of the Texas Zoo. "It's for a great cause - the Texas Zoo."
The event is a resurrection of the past Peacock Galas held in the area, the last of which was held about 10 years ago.
"It's a new event with a similar name," said Blomberg, who said unlike the galas of the past, this event is open to men and women.
Blomberg, who said she will unveil potential zoo expansion plans at the event, said the fundraiser is being held to raise money for funds for the zoo.
The gala will feature a silent auction and a live auction.
Items up for auction include a miniature horse, a safari hunt and a surprise auction item.
Attendees will also be able to partake in cocktails and a sit-down dinner complete with dessert.
The J.C.M. Jazz Band will perform.
