Yoakum Stock Show auction tops 2011 sale by $15,000

The 2012 Yoakum FFA and 4-H Stock Show auction brought in $15,000 more than last year.

This year's sale of 63 animals totaled $226,738.51, which is $15,441.86 more than 2011 sale's of $211,296.65.

"We had a fantastic sale this year and a good turn out for the auction. Everyone enjoyed having fair weather for a change," said Christie Michalcik, Yoakum High School agriculture teacher.

"All the exhibitors did a great job raising and showing their projects. We also had several new exhibitors who did well. Overall, the show went smoothly."

The grand champion steer was shown by Ashley Schoenemann and sold for $9,015. Lori Frazer showed the grand champion hog, and it sold for $5,700.
