Four people were transported to the hospital after a four-car wreck at the intersection of Mockingbird Lane and Sam Houston Drive on Friday afternoon. The wreck was believed to have been caused by the driver of the gold Ford pickup who suffered a medical condition.

Four people were transported to the hospital after a wreck on Sam Houston Drive just south of Mockingbird Lane about 4:20 p.m. Friday.

Katherine Pagel, 27, of Cuero, lost control of her gold Ford pickup as she was driving north on Sam Houston Drive, which caused her to strike a grey Nissan Altima, said Senior Patrol Officer Travis Hanson.

The Altima, driven by Margaret Escalona, 40, of Victoria, rear-ended a white Chevrolet pickup driven by Travis Basinger, 39, of Victoria.

Basinger's truck struck a Buick Terraza driven by Andre Cormier, 25, of Victoria.

Pagel was transported to Citizens Medical Center.

Escalona and her two daughters Melody Escalona, 10, and Mikayla Escalona, 14, were transported to DeTar Hospital Navarro where a hospital spokeswoman said they were in stable condition.

Pagel was transported to Citizens Medical Center for medical issues that caused her to lose control of the vehicle, Hanson said.

Pagel was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.

No citations will be issued, the officer said.

Northbound traffic on Sam Houston was diverted while the wreck was cleared.
