David Hurst, owner of David Hurst Construction, was recently named "Builder Member of the Year" at the Builders Association of Victoria annual installation and awards banquet. Hurst, who served as president of the association in 2006 and 2011, was honored for his many services on behalf of the local and state home building organizations.
Dennis Cihal, partner with Harrison Waldrop & Uherek, and JR Hartman, of VCS Companies, were recently awarded the "Associate of the Year" award for 2011 at the Builders Association of Victoria's annual awards and installation banquet. Cihal, who served as associate vice president of the board of directors, and Hartman, who served as a director of the association, were honored for their many services on behalf of the local home building organization.
Tony Prokop, owner of Prokop Custom Homes, was recently installed as president for 2012 of the Builders Association of Victoria by state Rep. Geanie Morrison. Prokop was also the recipient of the Travelling Membership Award for his recruiting efforts on behalf of the Association.
Debbie Jozwiak recently was named the December Employee of the Month at the University of Houston-Victoria. She is the general accounting manager in the UHV Finance Department and has worked at the university since 1993. Jozwiak received a framed certificate and a $50 gift card.
Richard C. Thompson was recently hired as Aransas County Project Manager. Thompson will be responsible for supervision and management of Aransas County projects not related to roads and bridges or drainage.
Richard T. (Terry) Cullen was recently promoted to president of First National Bank in Port Lavaca. He was also elected to the bank’s board of directors. Dee Harkey was promoted to executive vice president; and Erica Sparks was promoted to assistant cashier at the Seadrift Branch.
Kenneth French, an Edward Jones financial adviser in Victoria, recently traveled to St. Louis to attend the firm's Annual Partners' Meeting. French was named a principal with the firm's holding company, the Jones Financial Cos., in 2006.
