Five Victoria teenagers were arrested early Monday morning after being suspected of plotting to steal beer from a convenience store in the 1700 block of Southwest Moody Street.

Three of the teens walked out of the store with a few cases of beer about 2 a.m., said Sgt. Julian Huerta, with the Victoria Police Department.

The other teens were waiting in the vehicle, which police pulled over shortly after the theft because it matched the description given by the store clerk. Another teen, who was believed to be in on the theft, had wrecked a separate car in a ditch behind the store, Huerta said.

All were arrested on theft charges, with an enhanced charge of engaging in organized criminal activity, which will likely be a Class A misdemeanor, Huerta said. Two teens who were caught with beers in-hand were arrested on suspicion of being minors in possession of alcohol. They are Rikki Merle Hawkins and Emilio Suniga III, both 19.

The other teens arrested are Thomas Sedillo Cano III, 19, and Mark Andrew Valderamos and Codey Cass Silgero, both 18, according to arrest reports.
