A big thumbs up to Best Buy in Victoria for taking my old TV, even though I didn't buy it there. They took it at no charge and even removed it from my van. They also have recycle bins for cellphones, TV remotes and electronic cables. Thank you, Best Buy!

Ray, Victoria

Thumbs-up to the Genesis Drum and Bugle Corps, their director Chris Magonigal, and Cuero band director Gary Owens for encouraging area musicians to be part of the DCI experience.

Jennifer, Cuero

Thumbs-down to the driver of a red mustang east-bound on Airline who ran the red light at John Stockbauer on July 6 around 9 a.m. You could have caused a serious wreck.

Thumbs-down to the fireworks display. For a few minutes we had oohs and aahs and plenty of smoke in the atmosphere. Then it's all over. That $25,000 could have been better spent by giving it to the food bank and senior citizens center. A lot of people could have been fed for a long time.

As individuals, we can be patriotic every day and try to heal our sick country.

Garland, Victoria

Thumbs-up to all the recent rains. It's good to see the grass looking lush and green again.

Thumbs-up to Peter Piper Pizza's plans to come to Victoria.

Thumbs-up to the three chickens who made an appearance in DeLeon Plaza.

Thumbs-up to comedian and Victoria High School graduate Thea Vidale, who will be performing at the Golden Gecko on Saturday night.

Thumbs-up to the Department of Public Safety troopers who found and seized 680 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop on Friday.

Thumbs-down to the expected closing of the Blessed By the Gift Bible bookstore. It's sad to see a locally-owned business struggle and go under.

Thumbs-down to the cancellation of and all the confusion surrounding the live show featuring Disney stars in Victoria.

Thumbs-down to all the weird and unappetizing ingredients put in commercially produced foods.
