State Highway 185 from Green Lake to Bloomington was closed for two hours Tuesday morning because of a natural gas pipeline leak.
The leak was detected by a passing motorist, said Peter DeForest, fire chief for the Seadrift Volunteer Fire Department.
Seadrift Volunteer Fire Department and the Port Lavaca Fire Department initially responded. Deputies from Calhoun and Victoria County Sheriff's Offices also responded to assist with traffic control.
The highway was re-opened about 7:30 a.m. after pipeline technicians shut off the pipeline. The pipeline is owned by Houston-based XOG Energy, DeForest said.
