This year marks the fourth annual Flip Flop Festival in Port Lavaca. The Bayfront Peninsula will be swarming with activity from food and arts and crafts vendors to various events on Sept. 1.
"It's always a lot of fun, and this year is the biggest year yet," said Cathy Buehring, of the Port Lavaca Chamber of Commerce.
The event will include a number of returning events from years past and include new attractions for everyone in the family from a kids corner to live entertainment for the adults in the evening, Buehring said.
This year's Flip Flop Festival lineup includes country music star Jack Ingram in concert on the beach. Tickets for the concert are available through the Port Lavaca Chamber of Commerce and various locations in town for $15 in advance and $20 the day of the show.
Tina Crow, executive director of the Port Lavaca Chamber of Commerce, has been a part of the Flip Flop Festival since it started.
"We wanted a casual festival for the coast, something relaxing, and different from all the food festivals," Crow explained.
The festival will include the Fling Flong contest, something the Flip Flop Festival wouldn't be complete without.
The Flip Flop Festival will bring more competition to the beach as it partners with the YMCA and other organizations in the area. The YMCA will sponsor a beach volleyball tournament, which will start at 10 a.m., and a horseshoe tournament will also take place on the beach at 10 a.m.
