Lonnie Gregorcyk, district engineer for the Texas Department of Transportation Yoakum district, was named the new Corpus Christi district engineer.

The announcement was made Thursday by the agency's executive director Phil Wilson at the Texas Transportation Commission meeting at the Solomon Ortiz Jr. Center.

"I'm excited for this opportunity to serve the citizens of Texas in the Coastal Bend area," Gregorcyk said. "I'm looking forward to working with a great group of employees, local officials, community members and transportation partners to collaborate on the area's unique issues."

In his new role, he will oversee the planning, designing, building, operation and maintenance of the state transportation system in the 10-county Corpus Christi District. He has served as the interim district engineer since April.

A 28-year TxDOT veteran, Gregorcyk has spent his entire career in the Yoakum District. Since December 2003, he served as the Yoakum District Engineer.
