Warm Springs Specialty Hospital in Victoria is breaking ground on a new free standing hospital.
Post Acute Medical, the Warm Springs' parent company, will begin construction on a 33,248 square-foot hospital in late June. The hospital will be a 26-bed facility behind the existing Warm Springs facility on Medical Drive.
The hospital plans to open in summer 2013 and will employ more than 100 people.
The hospital will join a recent list of community-transforming events, such as the construction of Caterpillar and the booming Eagle Ford Shale.
A groundbreaking ceremony is set for 5 p.m. June 14.
"We are pleased with our continued development efforts, including the expansion into rehabilitation services in Victoria," said Anthony Misitano, president and chief executive officer of Post Acute Medical, in a news release.
The new hospital will provide inpatient rehabilitation, long-term acute care with a high observation unit, in and outpatient comprehensive wound care and outpatient rehabilitation.
The current facility will transform solely into a rehabilitation hospital, equipped with a gym and other treatment areas, such as a therapeutic pool.
"We look forward to continuing the tradition to better meet the rehabilitation needs of Victoria and all the markets we serve," Misitano said in the news release.
