June 7, 2012 at 1:07 a.m.

The Historic Texas Cemetery dedication for Indianola, Old Town and Zimmerman cemeteries is from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Indianola Cemetery, off state Highway 316 near Zimmerman Road in Indianola.

Those attending are asked to bring lawn chairs and umbrellas.

The Historical Commission will present a restoration plaque to the Daughters of the Republic of Texas District VII and the Indianola Cemeteries Restoration Fund, which provided new fencing and tombstone preservation for the Historic Indianola Cemetery.

The Daughters of the Republic of Texas Relics, Old Trails and Historic Sites Committee will recognize the Indianola Trail with a medallion dedication.

The Calhoun County Museum, 301 S. Ann St., in Port Lavaca, is featuring "Indianola Civil War Artifacts." At the Indianola site, a full-size camel sculpture has been completed, along with a town site diorama, cistern and courthouse marker, where many lives were saved during the two hurricanes of 1875 and 1886.
