UHV's Hamilton signs with Mariners

University of Houston-Victoria pitcher Tanner Hamilton has signed a free agent contract with the Seattle Mariners.

Hamilton played high school baseball at Tomball and transferred to UHV from Angelina College.

He went 4-1 for the Jaguars last season with a 5.83 ERA. He pitched 54 innings and had 38 strikeouts.

Hamilton is currently playing for the Regina Red Sox in the Western Major Baseball League.

He has a 1-0 record with a 0.00 ERA, tossing seven shutout innings and striking out seven in his only start.

Hamilton will report to the Mariners' extended spring training in Phoenix.
