St. Paul retains Henderson Cup

SAN ANTONIO - The Shiner St. Paul High School athletic department retained the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools Henderson Cup at the organization's annual award ceremony held in San Antonio last week.
TAPPS gives the award to one school in each enrollment classification based on a points system based on how the school did in the 24 state championship compeitions held each year.
A cup was presented to the school to display for a year along with a commemorative plaque.
St. Paul boys athletics finished as the state runner up in football, baseball and finished fifth at the state track and field tournament.
The St. Paul boys basketball team also reached the playoffs while the girls golf and volleyball teams were TAPPS regional finalists.
The girls tennis team finished fourth in team tennis.
The Lady Cardinals were state champions in softball, state runners up in basketball and cross country and finished third at the state track meet.
Marrisa Ynclan was honored at the banquet and was selected to play as a TAPPS all-star.
This year, she was the TAPPS 8-2A Most Valuable Player in both volleyball and basketball and as selected to the TAPPS 2A all-tournament team at the state tournament.
