New committees, website in the works for Victoria Chamber

New things are coming to the Victoria Chamber of Commerce, but it will take volunteers to make it happen.

Board Chairman Milton Chapman discussed the changes Wednesday afternoon at the chamber's monthly luncheon.

The chamber is close to finding a contractor to develop a new website, he said, which will offer updates on legislative issues and more.

"This will be a first-class site Victoria will be proud of," Chapman said.

He said the chamber also plans to establish five new committees focused on retail, community development, legislative issues, transportation and newcomers.

It's important for people to feel welcome when they move to Victoria, he said, and a newcomer group could help ease that transition.

Chapman said volunteer positions are available with all five committees.

"We need your help," he said.
