Why do drivers need to rush so much?

I believe it has been about one year or so since TxDOT. first mentioned raising the speed limits in certain areas of Victoria County as well as other counties in Texas. I was greatly opposed to it then, and I am still opposed.
Why the rush? For example, there have been times when driving on any highway in Victoria County, when I was driving the posted limit, I had other drivers pass me as if I were sitting still. No matter what the legal speed limit is, some drivers will drive from 5 to 10 miles over the limit. If the limit was 80 mph, some would drive 85 mph or even more.
In my opinion, it makes no sense raising the speed limit. Please people, at higher speeds you will use more fuel, which is not 99 cents per gallon any more.
There will be more accidents, deaths, injuries and some people will be maimed for life. Is this what you want? I don't think so.
Please remember, drivers, at higher speeds, the risks of having a tire blowout are higher. Think about it. Again, I rest my case.
