The Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament Sisters of Victoria met recently for an evaluation of the past six years, planning for the future and election of new congregational leadership for the next six years. All the Sisters were included in the planning, communal discernment, visioning and decision making.
The leadership team was elected in April and inducted into office during a Liturgical Celebration and Special Induction Ceremony on June 15. Bishop David Fellhauer and the Rev. Phi Nguyen, chaplain, were the concelebrants of the Mass.
Sister Stephana Marbach, who has been serving as pastoral associate of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Selma, for the past 10 years, was elected as general superior.
She had previously served as general superior from 1988-2000. Sister Kathleen Goike, who serves as director of novices, was elected as assistant general. Sister Odilia Korenek, who serves as executive director of Blessed Sacrament Academy in San Antonio, was re-elected to a third term as councilor.
Also elected as councilors, are Sister Clare Underbrink, who teaches at St. Joseph High School in Victoria, and Sister Laura Toman, who is principal of Our Lady of Victory School, also in Victoria.
Sister Andrea Hubnik was elected to a third term as treasurer general, and Sister Amata Hollas was appointed secretary general after serving two terms as councilor.
