Goliad County Fair and Rodeo opens Thursday

Goliad County Fair and Rodeo runs Thursday through Sunday at the Goliad Fairgrounds.
Livestock judging begins Thursday with broilers, followed by turkeys, rabbits and hogs.
The animal judging picks up on Friday with lambs, goats, commercial heifers, breeding cattle and steers.
The homemaking division exhibits will be judged Thursday. The show opens to the public at 9 a.m. Friday.
The auction, featuring the top livestock and blue ribbon homemaking entries, will begin at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
The grand parade will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in downtown Goliad.
Live musical entertainment will begin at noon on Saturday.
The PRCA Rodeo will open its three-day run at 7:30 p.m. Friday featuring the greased pig scramble, mutton bustin' and youth calf bucking. The other performances are at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
A dance will be held after the rodeo on Friday and Saturday nights. The Scott Taylor Band will perform on Friday and Jarrod Birmingham will perform on Saturday.
Carnival arm band nights will be 5 to 11 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door.
The carnival will remain open through Sunday.
