YOAKUM - Dr. Louis Boening, a veterinarian, was found dead in his pasture on Monday evening.

Boening told his wife he was going to walk across the pasture on their place off state Highway 111 near Yoakum when he disappeared, said DeWitt County Sheriff Jode Zavesky.

After Boening's wife, Aileen Boening, was unable to find him, she called the police and a search commenced about 5 p.m. He was found at 5:56 p.m.

Boening, 78, had a history of heart problems and it is believed he got overheated while walking, Zavesky said.

In addition to being a veterinarian, Boening was a long-time Yoakum businessman and banker.
