Henry Lind's eight-year tenure as superintendent of Cuero schools ended Thursday afternoon.

The board of trustees, in a unanimous vote during a special session, approved an exit agreement with Lind who has been superintendent of the Cuero school district since 2004-05.

In January, Lind did not receive a contract extension from the school board - something traditionally done during the first meeting each new year.

His contract ran through the 2014 school year. Lind's salary was about $125,000 annually.

"It has been a good run with many good things taking place during the last eight years," Lind said. "I will miss seeing and working with all of the great people of the Cuero school district."

Lind's departure from the school district takes place immediately, he said.

Pam Longbotham, assistant superintendent for curriculum, was named interim superintendent, said board president B.J. Drehr.

The board, as a whole, also released this statement: "A critical responsibility of the board is to ensure the district has superintendent leadership to continue to accomplish the goals of the district.

"The board thanks Mr. Lind for his service to the district and will begin the process to seek a new superintendent for the district."
