A Calhoun High School senior earned an appointment to the United States Naval Academy recently.

U.S. Rep. Ron Paul nominated James Yong-Hywn Yi, of Port Lavaca, to join the academy. James is the son of Larry Huff and Jenifer Yi.

He was an officer with the National Honor Society, captain of the football team, a member of the band, a member of the student council and several other organizations at Calhoun High School.

James has earned the rank of Eagle Scout and was selected for the American Legion Boy's State leadership program. He also has led and participated in several volunteer projects for his community.

"Congratulations, James. I am honored and privileged to serve as your congressman and to have been a part of nominating you for the academy," Paul said.
