GOLF ROUNDUP: Neuman finishes third for West girls

CORPUS CHRISTI - Meagan Neuman finished third individually at the Wildcat Invitational this weekend.

Neuman shot rounds of 83 and 85 to finished six strokes behind individual leader Allyson Flores from Tuloso-Midway.

Kayla Bowland finished with a two round score of 212 and Addie Griffith shot 248 for West.

Since the Warriors had three golfers, they were not eligible for the team standings.

Tuloso-Midway won the event with a score of 742. Calallen and Gregory-Portland finished second and third with scores of 829.

Tuloso-Midway's Keely Coburn finished second individually with a score of 165.

It was West's final tuneup before the District 30-4A meet in Portland on Apr. 2.


BRYAN - Trevor Vega shot a round of 2-over 74 on Saturday, helping him to a second place finish at the Bryan Spring Classic on Saturday.

The Warriors finished seventh in the team standings, with host Bryan winning the tournament with team rounds of 311 and 309. The Warriors as a team shot 20 strokes better on the second day, improving from a round of 356 on Friday to shoot a round of 336 on Saturday.

Huntsville finished second with team rounds of 324 and 319, and Allen was third place with rounds of 327 and 325.

Shannon Hawes shot rounds of 91 and 85, Trenton Lee shot rounds of 90 and 89, Remey Shelton fired a round of 88 Saturday after shooting a 97 on Friday.

The low round of the tournament was fired by Chandler Phillips of second place Huntsville, who shot rounds of 71 and 74 in the tournament.


CORPUS CHRISTI - The Victoria East Titans boys golf team posted a two-round score of 699 to finish fifth at the Calallen Wildcat Invitational tournament.

Sammy Ray Hysquierdo and Chad Williams each had two-round totals of 173 to lead the Titans. Josh Moya shot a 176 and Troy Ramos had a 177.
