Interviews for the Victoria County Justice of the Peace opening are expected to begin next week, county commissioners announced during Monday's meeting.

County Judge Don Pozzi said he, Commissioner Kenny Spann and Administrative Services Director Joyce Dean, will conduct the interviews for the precinct 1 judge.

Annie Ramos, who served as justice of the peace in precinct 1, resigned March 9 to run for county commissioner.

Business was as usual during Monday's commissioners court meeting.

Pozzi updated the court on the progress of an ordinance for sexually-oriented businesses.

Jim Allison, of the County Judges and Commissioners Association of Texas, will give a presentation during next week's meeting.

Pozzi said that meeting will be "an informational meeting" and no formal action will be taken.

The court also approved two payments totaling about $17,000 for engineering and electrical projects at the Victoria Regional Airport, agreements with Bexar County for the Victoria City-County Health Department and a residential contract for the Victoria Regional Juvenile Justice Center.

The agreement will provide long-term residential care for adjudicated children.
