Crossroads residents will soon have a chance to mix and mingle with a United States senator.

The Victoria Chamber of Commerce will host a reception honoring Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison at 9 a.m. Tuesday, at the Pump House Riverside Restaurant & Bar.

Chamber President and CEO Randy Vivian said the goal is to thank her for her years of service to both the state and nation.

Hutchison has served in the Texas Legislature, worked as Texas treasurer and has served as a United States senator since 1993.

She will not run for re-election in 2012.

"She's been a great champion for the state and has really done a lot for us locally," Vivian said. "She will be sorely missed when she steps down in December."

Tuesday's reception is open to the public, Vivian said. For more information, call the chamber at 361-573-5277.
