My name is Emett Alvarez and I am running for city council because I want to work for the citizens of District 1.
I received my business degree from the University of Texas at Austin and graduated from Stroman High School.
I have 30 years of business experience. I worked for Victoria Economic Development Corporation, the Boy Scouts, Pedernales Electric Co-op, and a U.S. Congressman, ran the economic development corporation for City of Bay, and worked for Jackson County Chamber of Commerce.
I own a small business in Victoria; I currently serve on the Food Bank board of directors and I am the Grand Knight of Our Lady of Sorrows Knights of Columbus.
I am a former chairman of the board of the Victoria Chamber and was a member of the University of Houston Victoria President's Advisory Council.
I am asking the voters of District 1 to hire me on May 12, so I can work for you.
Unlike Ms. Rangel, who stated she cannot say no, well - I can say no to raising taxes and no to higher water bills. I can say no to wasting taxpayers' money.
I will say yes to fixing our streets and drainage problems. Yes to moving the new sewer plant to another non-populated site. Yes to preventing crime. Yes to closing the Willow Street sewer plant now. And I will say Yes to listening to Victorians and solving their city concerns and issues.
When district 1 voters elect Emett Alvarez on Saturday, May 12, I am ready to go to work for you.
I humbly ask for your vote and support, so I can be your voice on city council. Your vote will allow me to work for you.
You can always reach me at 571-9561 or 578-9686. God bless you, your family and this great community we all call home.
Emett Alvarez is a candidate for the Victoria City Council District 1 seat.
