Editor, the Advocate:
The citizens of Goliad County have a GREAT opportunity to elect an individual who is superbly qualified to be sheriff. Don Mitchel has more than 30 years of continuous law enforcement experience. His experience includes patrol officer, sergeant, chief of police and state police. He has also conducted open and undercover operations. Mitchel is a certified peace officer instructor. He has instructed classes for various police academies and holds a Masters Peace Officer certification. Mitchel has received training from the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute at Sam Houston State University and The Center for Missing and Exploited Children in Alexandria, Va.
Goliad County desperately needs and deserves a sheriff with law enforcement experience, with an abundance of law enforcement training and knowledge. A sheriff with a strong desire and ability to remove drug dealers, users and manufacturers from Goliad, making Goliad a safer place to live, work and raise a family. That sheriff is Don Mitchel.
I humbly ask that you join me in electing Don Mitchel, a sheriff that we, the citizens of Goliad County, can be proud of. I am extending an invitation to the military veterans of Goliad to support our extremely qualified Brother-in-Arms Don Mitchel.
Ray Ruiz, United States Army, First Sergeant, Retired, Goliad
