Jordan Pacheco will be pitching at Riverside Stadium again.

Pacheco has agreed to join the Victoria Generals for the upcoming Texas Collegiate League season.

Pacheco, a Victoria West graduate, is currently pitching for the University of Texas-San Antonio.

The 6-foot, 180-pound right-hander will compete for a starting role on head coach Chris Clemons' staff.

"Coach Clemons and I are excited to have Jordan return home to pitch for the Generals this summer," Generals general manager Blake Koch said in a news release. "We've had our eye on him since early in his high school career and we're looking forward to seeing him perform in a Generals uniform."

Pacheco has made 20 appearances and eight starts during his freshman season at UTSA. He has a 1-3 record and a 5.82 ERA with 43 strikeouts in 51 innings.

Pacheco's most impressive performance came on April 24 in a 4-1 win over Baylor, which was ranked No. 1 in the nation at the time.

Pacheco held the Bears to one run on seven hits while striking out a career-high five batters in 5 1/3 innings. Pacheco's performance helped put an end to Baylor's 24-game winning streak.

The win was the first in UTSA Athletics history against a national top-ranked squad.

"Jordan has a high ceiling in terms of his potential," Koch said. "He's only scratching the surface in terms of how good he can be."

Pacheco was the Pitcher of the Year on the Advocate's all-area team during his senior year at Victoria West and junior year at Memorial.

As a senior at West, Pacheco threw a five-inning no-hitter against rival Victoria East to clinch the top seed in District 30-4A.

Pacheco went 7-5 with nine complete games and three shutouts. He posted a 2.62 ERA with 132 strikeouts in 80 innings while holding opposing hitters to a .170 batting average.

As a junior at Memorial, Pacheco went 10-3 with a 1.06 ERA and pitched nine complete games. He struck out 134 in 85.2 innings.

The Generals home opener is Sunday, June 3 at 7:05 p.m. at Riverside Stadium against the Acadiana Cane Cutters.
