Lost Cajun: A hidden jewel at Coleto Creek

As soon as I pulled into the Lost Cajun restaurant, I thought to myself, this a place to party. There's an outdoor patio for eating and an indoor dining section.

The spirit of Mardi Gras is eminent throughout the diner with purple, green and gold decorations.

Sounds of Barry White and Aretha Franklin played through the speakers. I couldn't help but dance in my seat.

Vanessa told me to have a seat anywhere. I sat by the window to get a quasi-outdoor experience. That day, I preferred to be in the comfort of air conditioning.

My nose was pleasantly teased by the smell of fresh seafood. Being from Ohio originally, I wasn't always afforded that luxury.

Vanessa was polite and handed me ice cold water in a Styrofoam cup as I waited for my party to arrive. I received some jalapeño cornbread to whet my palate before the main entree. There's a variety of beers, margaritas and daiquiris.

The Cajun-fried pork chops, smothered in shrimp etouffee, caught my attention. One word: yummy.

The pork chops were lightly breaded with a wonderful, brown color. A side of garlic mashed potatoes accompanied the savory meat.

I thought the shrimp etouffee was tasty and not too spicy.

I thoroughly enjoyed eating the whole shrimp, not just the pieces.

Several families also stayed for a while, sharing a bucket a crawfish. The entire staff made sure everyone was satisfied with their meals.

We were so comfortable there, we stayed for several hours. It appeared to become more lively later in the day.
