A 55-year-old Bryan man died in a three-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 77 Tuesday night in Lavaca County near the Fayette County line.
Ronald Perkins was traveling north in a 2008 Dodge pickup when it crossed into the southbound lane and struck a 1999 Ford pickup and a 2004 Freightliner pulling a flatbed utility trailer, driven by Apolinar Garcia, 47, of Houston, according to a Department of Public Safety report.
Perkins died from injuries suffered in the wreck and his passenger, Scott Cronauer, 52, of College Station, was injured in the 11:15 p.m. crash. He was taken to Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, said a DPS spokesman.
A hospital spokesman said Cronauer was in stable condition on Wednesday night.
The driver of the Ford pickup, Jeffrey Kallsen, 60, of La Grange, and Garcia were taken to Lavaca Medical Center.
A spokeswoman for Lavaca Medical Center said they had no record of treating either man.
DPS Trooper Matt Southall is investigating the crash.
