PUEBLO, Colo. - Texas A&M-Kingsville junior Avery Griffin broke the school record in the discus twice Friday at the NCAA Division II National Track and Field meet.

Griffin, a Van Vleck graduate, fouled on his first two attempts before throwing 184 feet 8 inches to break the school record held by Andrew Wells by nearly four feet.

Griffin improved the mark in the finals with a career-best throw of 187-5 to finish second and earn All-America honors.
