Incumbent Gary Burns easily won the Republican Party primary nomination for Victoria County Commissioner Precinct 3.

In complete but unofficial results announced Tuesday night, Burns received 1,053 votes, or 75.92 percent, to challenger Gary Charbula's 316 votes, or 23.08 percent.

Burns has served as the precinct 3 commissioner since January 2005.

He will face Democratic Party nominee Rey Herrera, who won 320 votes, in the November General Election.

Almost 6,000 Victoria voters, or 17 percent of the county's registered voters, turned out for the Republican Party primary.

This commissioner race received 1,369 votes.
