Miss. Valley gets $50K for scholarships

ITTA BENA, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi Valley State University has received $50,000 from the Robert M. Hearin Foundation to provide need-based scholarships for students attending MVSU.

It is the fourth year the foundation has given the money to the university located in Itta Bena.

Valley President Donna H. Oliver says the funds will help many students continue their college education without distractions presented by financial hardships.

Since 2009, the Hearin Foundation has given over $200,000 to Mississippi Valley State.
