Edna car chase ends in crash

Officials in Jackson County and other agencies pursued a motorist Friday evening who drove in excess of 100 mph.

Jackson County Sheriff's Deputy Jason McCarrell said the chase, which involved Texas Department of Public Safety, Ganado Police Department and Matagorda County Police, began in Edna at 8:18 p.m. The chase lasted till 8:39 p.m., when the driver crashed in a small lot in Markham.

The motorist, whose identity was not released and who was driving a Buick passenger vehicle, was arrested and is in custody.

Details about the cause of the chase and possible charges were not released. The investigation is ongoing, McCarrell said.
