Cynthia Baldwin, of Victoria, was driving a Chevrolet Cobalt to pick up her boyfriend from work in the 6500 block of Houston Highway when her car was struck by a train.
"I tried to stop, but the train hit me. I just stopped too late," she said.
No one was injured. Baldwin was the only person in the car.
Police Officer David Brogger said she hit the front of the locomotive. The impact spun the car all the way around.
Eight train cars, including the two engines, traveled through the intersection before the train was able to stop.
"I am in shock. I am thankful, very thankful," Baldwin said about walking away from the crash.
Her boyfriend, Hank Porter, of Victoria, is amazed she was not injured after seeing the wreck.
"I was standing here waiting and she came to the stop sign and eased up too far. It just took her all the way around," he said. "As soon as it happened, I was like, 'Oh my gosh, I hope she is all right.'"
On the opposite side of the tracks, Porter said he jumped the train as soon as it stopped, and found her sitting up in the car.
The intersection is marked by a stop sign and railroad crossing sign.
