American Idol has gone Victoria.

Sundance Head, who finished season six of American Idol in 13th place, is expected to bring a full crowd to Mustang Bar and Grill during his Saturday performance.

Head has a Texas soul and country twang to his music, a sound many in Victoria will respond well to, said Zane Steininger, owner of the bar and grill.

"They just blow you away," said Steininger, who first saw Head perform at a Tubing for Cancer New Braunfel's concert in July. "It's unbelievable."

At first, Steininger did not realize Head was on American Idol, but his talent alone is enough for him to say he's one of the biggest names the bar and grill has wrangled in.

Head is the first American Idol contestant who did not make the top 12 to receive a recording contract with a major record label, Universal Motown.

The community has already shown positive support for Head's performance, Steininger said.

"It's going to be blues, rock and country. It's going to be great," he said. "People here just appreciate that kind of music."

The bar and grill typically brings in artists every other weekend. Steininger calls it a "breath of fresh air."

About 200 people can fit into the bar, and more can stand in the patio outside, which, with this artist, Steininger expects to happen.

"It's going to be an up close and intimate concert," he said.
