A judge sentenced a Victoria man to life in prison Friday after he was found guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Antonio DeLeon, 37, was convicted by a jury on Thursday of shooting at at least one person in the parking lot of a night club in the 3600 block of Navarro Street.

Assistant District Attorney Edward Wilkinson, who could not be reached for comment Friday, said previously he thought the dispute may have started because a group of people were intoxicated and trying to act macho.

Defense Attorney Bill White could not be reached for comment.

Jeremy Altis, a 33-year-old Missouri man, faces similar charges in the incident, which was reported during the early morning hours of Dec. 4.

Witnesses said he drove the gray Toyota Tacoma that DeLeon was inside. The gun - a black Hi-Point model C9 9mm Luger - was found later by police in the truck's center console.

Altis is expected to go to trial in Jan. 23.
