Thumbs-down to Cinemark for not bringing "Lincoln." They promoted it in the local theater and then chose not to bring it to Victoria. False advertising.

Thumbs-up and welcome home to Cpl. Eric Salinas, who recently returned home to Bloomington after a yearlong tour in Afghanistan. Thank you for your service, sir.
Thumbs-up to James Lucas, 65, for his work tracing the genealogy of more than 32,000 African-Americans within Gonzales, DeWitt, Goliad, Lavaca, Refugio and Victoria counties. This is an impressive amount of dedication, and we applaud him for the service he has given others by helping them learn about their ancestors.
Thumbs-up to the Victoria Professional Express Network's Holiday Bazaar for not only offering quality items, but also supporting the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent and funding scholarships.
Thumbs-up to meteorologist and storm chaser Reed Timmer, who wowed us with stories of his experiences chasing some of the wildest weather in the U.S.

Thumbs-down to the daily deaths happening on Texas highways. Someone has died on Texas roads every day since Nov. 7, 2000. This is a horrible sequence of tragedies, and we hope drivers will be safe while on the road.
Thumbs-down to diabetes and the myriad of health problems associated with this all-too-common disease.
