A motorcyclist was in stable condition Sunday at Citizens Medical Center after colliding with an 18-wheel tractor trailer.

Department of Public Safety Trooper Joe Schuler said David Aleman, 58, of Houston, was driving the cab of a 2000 Freightliner north on U.S. 59 in the outside lane about 12:45 p.m Saturday, towing Jose Aleman, 57, also of Houston, who was driving the disabled tractor trailer.

Schuler said the brothers were near the Lavaca River and a relief bridge on U.S. 59 when David Aleman decided to turn left into the inside lane to park the disabled tractor trailer in the crossover lane.

While turning left, David Aleman struck Jon-Luc Lewis, 21, of Edna, who was driving a black 2009 Yamaha V Star north on the same highway in the inside lane.

Lewis struck the truck's tow strap and wrecked on the highway.

Lewis suffered road rash and a broken ankle and was transported by ambulance to Citizens, where he remains for observation.

Schuler said Aleman was expected to receive a citation for improper lane change.
