An electrical conduit caught fire Monday while demolition workers were working in the former Town Plaza Mall.

The fire was contained by demolition workers from Camacho Demolition, who were working in the building at 1502 E. Airline Road, Fire Marshal Tom Legler said. The fire was called in at 5:30 p.m.

The firefighters spent nearly two hours there, checking for any other fires.

Legler said a contract worker started the fire near the second-floor women's restroom. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The fire marshal had not determined whether any enforcement action would be taken.
