Woman killed in US 59 crash near Inez

Nov. 21, 2012 at 5:21 a.m.

A woman is dead after a one-vehicle crash that occurred on the southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 59 just south of Inez.

An official at the scene said the woman, whose name was not immediately released, was not from Victoria.

Seven people - including three adults and four children - were inside the car when it crashed about 4:10 p.m.

A Department of Public Safety official said a tire malfunction caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, which rolled and entered the northbound lanes.

Northbound traffic on U.S. 59 remains backed up for more than three miles from the crash. Southbound traffic has been re-opened.
